Have you ever been persuaded into voting? Well, you should have your own say on where your opinion goes. Voting is a right that every citizen in America over the age of 18 can do. Many people have become aware of the fact that the number of voters had reached its all-time low. But as the newest voting season comes closer, we should still have a voice and the freedom to decide what we do. Which is to take a step against making America a compulsory voting country, because it proves unnecessary and there are other alternatives than mandatory voting.
For instance some people just don't want to waste time on politics because it doesn't affect them as much as others. In the November 23rd, 2015, issue of Junior Scholastic Magazine, Professor Jason Brenna shared her opinion with no, against mandatory voting, “Some Americans know a lot about government, economics, foreign affairs and current events, but others know hardly anything” (Junior Scholastic). To elaborate on the idea, a man who is well briefed in politics may differ than another man who shares a completely different perspective on voting. Educated professors like Jason Brenna have sided with this matter, ¨...having a right to do something doesn't mean you should be required to do it¨ (Junior Scholastic). There are various reasons for eligible voters not to vote, maybe favoritism to any candidate running is null, or past experiences have proven an unhappy result. Different reasons have gradually piled up, which causes more people to not to vote, and it's perfectly okay because it is their opinion and right. Mandatory voting would only lead to protests and numerous non-voting fees. It would take away our freedom which America was founded
