1 November 2016 The movie Se7en (Seven) directed by David Fincher is about two homicide detectives, Mills and Somerset (Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman respectively), and their trials and tribulations on catching a murderer. The serial killer justifies his killings, no matter how horrific, as absolution for the world's ignorance of the Seven Deadly Sins. One by one each of the Seven Deadly Sins are portrayed in gruesome killings: Gluttony first with the obese man, then a lawyer portrays greed, sloth above the bed of a drug dealer and child molester missing one hand, who was tied to the bed and starved for a year, a prostitute who represents lust, a woman who committed suicide over something unimportant

The scene where Mills, Somerset, and John Doe are in the desert and the box shows up with Tracy Mills (David Mills’ wife) head in it. In this world we live in, someone being able to plan something like this would probably be highly unlikely, but that being said, there are some seriously sick individuals living among us. So I would hope and like to believe that something like this could never occur, but never say never. It’s extremely unbelievable that John Doe was able to pull this off. To plan such an event perfectly with no hiccups, and in some sick way, it’s kind of awesome that he was able to maintain such a meticulous plan to the “t”. He was even able to plan his own death right after this scene by enraging Mills so much that he commits the Deadly Sin of wrath on John Doe when he shoots him six times. This scene was one-hundred percent not predictable. It came out of nowhere with an insurmountable amount of shock value. You are not quite sure what to expect when John Doe leads the detectives to the desert and then this happens and it blows you away. Another point in this story is when David Mills is assigned to a “different case” after Somerset and the captain think he should be taken off of the current one, but it soon becomes known that the two murders are related. Crime fighting is incredibly time consuming and can be immensely complicated. As I mentioned before, shows will often lead the viewer on to think that one person does all the work at a crime scene. In reality, the process goes more along these lines: When a call is made that needs assistance, a uniformed officer will be the first one on scene. He will do his job of securing the area and making sure any other threats have been neutralized. If he needs, he will call for detectives to come and investigate as well as interview any witnesses in the area. Shortly thereafter, crime scene units will show up and help in recovering physical evidence such as prints or traces of DNA. Following all of these different units and people arriving, the scene and evidence needs to be photographed, documented, and chronicled. It is impossible to deny the similarities of characters, setting, cinematography and more, between The Return of the Secaucus Seven by John Sayles and The Big Chill by Lawrence Kasden. This paper will focus on the similarities and differences in the themes between the two movies. Specifically, focusing on relationships, aging, and death. The two films differ in many aspects but parallel in other ways. Impacts of these themes within the two movies are important to recognize because they are relevant to everyday life, relatable, and realistic.

Foreshadowing was used because at the end of the story Mr.Atkinson began to sharpen his knives late night while James was writing down of what happened to him that day. Does that seem that Mrs.Atkinson wanted to kill James. While Hanke's thesis is logical, I think the real reason these pictures get such acclaim is (you guessed it) their aesthetic distance. Both The Silence of the Lambs and Seven are considered to be more psychological in nature, as they present killers whose motivations are explainable. The unexplainable is infinitely more terrifying than the explainable so in elucidating the motivations to their gruesome behavior the audience is given an easy out. Believing that evil has a root cause, the audience does not have to accept the shocking hypothesis that evil can simply exist without rhyme or reason. Even in the masterpiece Halloween (1978) we are tossed a half-hearted psychological explanation as to why Michael Myers does what he does. The psychobabble that Donald Pleasance spouts is simply that Myers is "pure evil," and there are some vague connections made between Myers witnessing his sister engaging in premarital sexual activity and his slaughtering tendencies. Director John Carpenter then gets to have a killer who seems like a force of nature, yet is still explainable within the realm of psychology.
In a world filled with criminal shows on television, it is difficult to get an accurate idea of what it truly means to be a police officer or a detective. It seems easier to absorb the analysis they present and simultaneously solve the case; however, is that truly how it works? Criminal Minds is one of the most popular shows on television today. This is due to the way it portrays the FBI in their endless search for villains unfound and rampant. Law and Order portrays the entire process of find, justifying, and incriminating offenders. Another show similar to Law and order is 24. 24 goes through an entire day in one, twenty-four episode, season. It does this in great detail to show the audience how they arrived at conclusion of who was guilty.
It is true that many of the aspects of this play could maybe conclude in it being classed as a detective story.
I was reading threads on Reddit the other day about multiple serial killer cases and I always questioned myself, “Why would someone do this? My initial inspiration for this piece was Trifles, which funnily enough only shares the characteristic of detectives being involved within the plot. As per suggestion on my proposal, I developed my idea of detectives solving a case further by including dialogue and inter-personnel relationships similar to those found in Glengarry Glen Ross. Taking the idea of different members of the real-estate office discussing work and plotting in Glengarry Glen Ross, and applying them to a trio of detectives on a case was interesting to say the least.

The Last Temptation of Christ by Martin Scorsese shows the life of Jesus Christ and his struggle such as fear, reluctance, depression, doubt, and fear. However, the movie departs from the accepted Biblical depiction of the life of Jesus Christ. In other words, the movie is remotely derived from the Gospel of John, Luke, Mark, and Mathew. The movie starts with the renunciation that it is not based on the above gospels. Instead the movie is derived from the book, The Last Temptation of Christ by Nikos Kazantzakis. The book focuses on the dual nature of Christ or his humanity (Greydanus).
