I like how you used the words trash, recycled and re-purposed to describe the rummage sale of your own closet in reference to what is happening right now in Christianity. As I consider the process of Christianity holding a rummage sale, I am wondering what needs to be thrown in the trash, recycled or re-purposed for what Tickle says needs to happen. Tickle states, “About every five hundred years the empowered structures of institutionalized Christianity, whatever they may be at that time, become an intolerable carapace that must be shattered in order that renewal and new growth may occur” (Tickle 158-159).
