Recommended: Minorities representation in media essay

What kinds of father-figures or role models are presented? All in the Family the father was clearly against homosexuality women's right, and used racism and discrimination daily in the show. He used the father role to teach his child that racism was ok and a woman’s place is to cook and clean and bring him beer. Not all of the shows is realistic in the everyday family life. Things are never as simple as it is portrayed to be on the television. The shows are not always fair to different cultures and genders, but could be realistic because there is people that behave just as the shows portrayed. But, in my opinion this is not appropriate to teach a child.
The best example in my opinion is Roseanne. It portrayed ups and downs that happen in everyday
