Romeo & Juliet Essay Imagine you tell your parents about a boy you like, his behavior is questionable but you like him anyways. Your parents don’t like him and claim that you shouldn’t date him, your upset and angry with them. But what you don’t realize in your rage is that they are only trying to protect you, if they had let you date him he could have led you down a disastrous path of self destruction and failure. So be thankful they stopped you. I believe parents should have a say in who their children can date, without that their kids could get very hurt. Some can argue that if parents let their kids date whoever, they can learn first hand the effects its has on them both positive and negative. One reason for why parents should have a say in who their children date, is hidden in the play Romeo and Juliet. In the well known Shakespeare play Romeo and Juliet two teenages fall in love quickly, their parents had forbid them from loving one another but that did not stop the two. The pair fall in love and have an outside relationship only having Fiar Laurence and Juliet's Nurse know of the twos relationship, in a couple of the days they even marry. Which causes some problematic behavior, such as slow processing and bad decision making. I believe parents have the right to guide their children's decisions making. Teenagers also are blind to the dangers of falling in love with someone, they don’t think things through all the way. They need some guidance from an adult with experience, and I think it's best for the parents to decide on who their children date. The story of Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy. The two lovers go against their families and against their hate to be together but they don’t think about the consequences, which in the end are devastating.
In “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet”, William Shakespeare explains the idea that parental support is needed for teenagers. In the play two teenagers secretly get married and then commit suicide. Parents should let their kids do what they want but they can’t let them run loose..The amount of parental guidance in a teens life affects them greatly.
Since we can ultimately make decisions to what we desire, for we all have free will, could Romeo and Juliet thus have done anything different to avoid their death-marked love? Ever since Romeo saw Juliet on page 757, he tells us about how he finds her irresistible and of her beauty that is, “too rich for use, for earth to dear!” And we see on the next page that their love was destined to be. But afterwards, they are in a rush to marry each other, and at the end of day two, the friar and the nurse help the star crossed lovers do exactly that. What if, instead of keeping the marriage a secret, if Romeo and Juliet told their parents about their marriage? If they did this, would the two lords have disregarded their hate for one another’s families, thus accomplishing what the friar hoped that Romeo and Juliet’s marriage would do? And even though Romeo and Juliet kept their marriage a secret from their families, they could have avoided their suicidal actions by avoiding the poisons that were offered to Juliet on pages 821-822 and to Romeo on pages 837-838. For like I said before, the both of them ultimately had the free will to choose to drink the poisons that were given to them. If Juliet didn’t take the sleeping drugs, then Romeo would have saw her to be well and would have stayed in Mantua. If this did happen, then would the nurse and or the friar have helped her to escape from Verona, and Lord Capulet’s plan to have Juliet marry Paris? So, in the end, Romeo and Juliet are the only ones we can wholly place the blame upon for their inevitable
In William Shakespeare’s tragic play Romeo and Juliet, two young lovers from opposing households make impetuous decisions which ultimately lead to the suicide of both lovers (Romeo and Juliet). Juliet, one lover, has mentors that fail her in the play because of their ignorance of her emotional needs and growing independence as a teenager. These mentors are Juliet’s former wet nurse and guardian, the Nurse, Juliet’s mother, Lady Capulet, and Juliet’s father, Lord Capulet.
After finding out the nurse opinion on this matter, she decided to go to the Friar to find an answer to her dire situation. Romeo and Juliet have tried to find a way to be with each other but it seems fate could not have that who knows it’s maybe Romeo and Juliet could have lived if they thought this out and told everyone about their secret relationship it would of turned out better.
According to Stephanie Coontz relationships between parents and teenagers have become more troubled because society is failing to prepare young people for the demands of today's adulthood. Young people suffer from "rolelessness" as a result of the historical extend of adolescence, with puberty coming earlier and full adulthood coming later. The problem with rolelessness has become harder for the newer generations in my opinion, kids nowadays need that role model/mother-father figure because they are easily influenced by their surroundings. Rolelessness has become a risk among the young.
Because of miscommunication, Romeo and Juliet’s parents are not informed of their teenager’s conflicts, therefore making them useless. An example of miscommunication between the adults and adolescents is when Romeo locks himself in his room depressed. Lord Montague is deeply concerned about Romeo’s seclusive ways, saying he is “to himself, so secret”. Lord and Lady Montague want to “learn from whence his sorrows grow” so they can help him with his troubles (I.i.155-163). Because Romeo alienates himself from his parents, not telling them he is heartbroken from Rosaline, his parents do not know why he is upset. Firstly, Romeo and Juliet’s problematic marriage was a result of their impulsiveness. In Verona, the Capulet-Montague feud was infamous: even the servants loathed each other.
	Due to the secret marriage, Romeo and Juliet tragically die. Had Romeo and Juliet announced their wedding, they could still be alive. Juliet would not have had to fake her death to get out of the arranged marriage with Paris if she had told her parents about her and Romeo. Romeo does not receive the information of the Friar and Juliet's plan in time, and he kills himself in anguish over her death. As Juliet awakes from her slumber, she sees Romeo dead. Juliet then kills herself in bereavement over Romeo's death. Had Romeo and Juliet announced their wedding, then none of these tragic events ever would have happened as a result of their parents dispute.
In the course of the play, Romeo and Juliet immediately fall in love. Also, they know they are meant for each other and therefore decide to get married. After this marriage, there was a brief moment in time where everything was perfect. They are married, in love and there is nothing stopping them from being together. This however quickly changes after a fight that leads to death. Once Romeo is banished from Verona for the penalty of murder, love grows tremendously between the couple and drives the need to be together. The marriage between Romeo and Juliet is hidden from their parents, so Montague decides to arrange a marriage between her and Paris. With all the conflict arising between Juliet’s family, Friar Lawrence creates a plan that unfortunately does not succeed. His plan for Juliet is to tell her father she will marry Paris then go to bed with no one, not even the nurse. After, she will drink a potion to make her seem dead for forty two hours and then have a messenger tell Romeo about it. He will have her put in a vault to wait for Friar to bring her out so she and Romeo can elope. The plan was perfect until tragedy occurs, Benvolio had seen Juliet dead and immediately tells Romeo about it. The result is Romeo and Juliet murdering themselves and the play had a tragic ending. Teen Dating Guidelines In the article “Teen Dating Guideline” I read that teens should be allowed to date but, under some rules and conditions. The reason for this according to Jessica Childs is that when children aren’t allowed to date then you will put them in a situation where they will become liars. They want to pursue the relationships. My opinion is that children should be allowed to date because they need to start experimenting for when there comes a time that you will have to be in a long term relationship and possible want to get married and have children.
Ultimately, Romeo and Juliet become embodiments of impulsiveness. Through their rash words and actions in the tragedy “Romeo and Juliet”, Shakespeare sets forth that both are too hasty in their decisions, leading them into unfortunate events. As the plot unfolds, Romeo and Juliet’s futile love is torn apart by their family’s hate and animosity towards each other. Despite their constant struggle to let their love survive, it is doomed from the beginning of the tragedy. It is plain that lack of foresight and wisdom leads to disaster all around.
