Romeo and Juliet show very vividly that love can be a dangerous influence. Romeo and Juliet are from rival families and have found love. They had put aside their families ancient hatred and fell in love in secrecy which obviously came with consequence. In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, the author communicates the message that love causes humans to make irrational decisions. We know this because of their decision to get married, Juliet's decision to fake her death, and Romeo and Juliets to end their lives, Romeo and Juliet's marriage was an irrational decision because they had barely known each other. Romeo and Juliet had met at a party earlier in the night and Romeo wished to speak with Juliet more. When Juliet sees the friar talking to Paris, she bursts into tears. The friars solution is to give her a potion that “When presently through all thy veins shall run a cold and drowsy humor, for no pulse shall keep his native progress, but surcease” (4.1.4.98-100). This is irrational because the her fake death isn't necessary because they could just come out with their love. The friar doesn't help Juliet's irrational mind, instead he influences her by saying “if no inconstant toy, nor womanish fear, abate thy valor in the acting it”(4.1.4. 122-123). The friar almost pushes her into it by saying that he doubts her, which is far from helping her irrational decision streak. Instead of heeding the friars warning, she demands the friar to “Give me, give me! O, tell not me of fear!”(4.1.5.124). This completely irrational because she doesn't care about what this mysterious liquid will do to her, instead she just asks for it. For example, after finding out that Romeo is a Montague, Juliet says, “My only love, sprung from my only hate! Too early seen unknown, and known too late! Prodigious birth of love it is to me That I must love a loathed enemy” (I, v, 136-139). Juliet acted too fast and fell in love with someone that is an enemy of her family. When Juliet says, “Too early seen unknown, and known too late”, she means that she fell in love with Romeo without knowing who he was. The most logical conclusion we can draw from this is that their relationship was moving so quickly that Juliet had already kissed Romeo and fallen in love with him before even knowing his identity. Their choice of proceeding with their relationship so quickly is one of the reasons that led to Romeo and Juliet dying. Additionally, when Romeo and Juliet were talking to each other on the balcony by the orchard, Juliet asked, “What satisfaction canst thou have tonight?” (II, ii, 126), and Romeo responded, “The exchange of thy love’s faithful vow for mine” (II, ii, 127). The fact that after only kissing each other once, and talking for a brief amount of time, Romeo and Juliet want to get married, illustrates that their free will and decision making got them killed. Since their families are enemies, it was an obviously terrible choice for Romeo and Juliet to get married. Romeo and Juliet is a play by William Shakespeare that tells the tale of two young lovers who come from opposing families. At first they don’t even know that the other exists; However, that all changes one night at a party that Juliet’s father, Lord Capulet, throws. Romeo and Juliet fall madly in love and rush to get married. Sadly, these two don’t get a happy ending, and one question remains: who or what is to blame for the lovers’ tragic end? Is it fate or human choice?
Romeo- Love causes Romeo to act impulsively and put himself in dangerous situations. For example, in act two, scene two, Romeo sneaks into the Capulet grounds due to his love for Juliet. He loves her so much that he was willing to risk being caught by Juliet’s kinsman. If he was caught, a fight could have broken out, which would have put Romeo’s life in danger. Also, he would lose his life due to the prince’s death penalty.
When Juliet goes to the friar and threatens to kill herself if he doesn’t help her get out of marrying Paris he agrees to help her. He gives her a potion to temporarily stop her breathing so she appears dead. The friar says, “Take thou this /vial, being then in bed,/And this distilling liquor drink thou off;/When presently through/all thy veins shall run/A cold and drowsy humor; for no pulse/Shall keep his native progress, but surcease.” (Act IV.i 95-99) “In the meantime, against thou shalt awake,/Shall Romeo by my letters know our drift,” (Act IV.i 115-116) He is saying that Juliet doesn’t have to worry about Romeo freaking out about her death because he will tell Romeo about her fake death and they will be there to dig her up once she wakes up from her sleeping potion. Juliet is 100% on board with this plan because she really does not want to marry Paris. She is even willing to make her family think she is dead to be with

Friar gave Juliet the potion because she said she would rather kill herself than marry Paris and after saying that Friar came up with the idea to give her the potion and put her into a fake death, while he contacted Romeo to come and rescue her. The idea that they had in their minds did not go according to plan because Romeo got the news that Juliet actually died, not that she was put in a fake death. As Juliet fell in love with Romeo, The Nurse went behind the backs of Juliet’s parents and was sending messages between the two.
In addition to being a rich, nice, and suitable man, Paris was not a Montague. Lord Capulet was impressed with Paris and scheduled an abrupt wedding for the marriage of Paris and Juliet, without knowing of the secret matrimony of Romeo and Juliet. When Juliet heard news of her arranged marriage she soon fled to a trusted friend, Friar Lawrence, for a tactic to get out of the soon to be marriage. The Friar quickly brewed up a vial that had the capability to make one appear dead while they were still alive. In addition to making the vial the Friar also sent word to Romeo that in two days he need to return to Verona to be there when Juliet woke up from her sleep like coma. As fate would have it Romeo received word that Juliet had past on, but not that it was only a medically induced coma. Immediately after hearing the horrible news of his wife's death Romeo few back to the tomb of Juliet's body with a bottle of lethal poison. When he arrived Paris was at Juliet's tomb, nevertheless Paris blames Romeo for the death of Juliet's death. Meaning that Romeo broke her heart when he killed her cousin Tybalt. They were soon consumed in a fight, but in the end Romeo kills Paris. Romeo was consumed with grief and drinks poison that puts him to rest. Soon Juliet woke up to discover the dead bodies of Paris and Romeo, the sight of the bodies caused her to stab herself in the

When Romeo and Juliet realize they can’t be together, and Juliet is expected to marry Paris, she needs an escape plan. Juliet pays a visit to the Friar, who creates a plan for Juliet to fake her death with a sleeping potion. When Juliet asks the Friar to help her break free from her wedding with Paris, he replies that: If, rather than to marry County Paris, Thou has the strength of will to slay thyself; Then it is likely thou wilt undertake A thing like death to elude away this shame, That cop'st with death himself to scrape from it; And, if thou darest, I'll give thee remedy. IV i 71-76. Therefore, for the second time, the Friar acts unwisely and agrees to give Juliet this deadly potion.
The Friar says that Juliet’s only option to get out of marrying the County Paris is to kill herself. His encouragement invokes the idea for Juliet to drink the potion. Trusting Juliet with a sleeping potion and the idea of killing herself showcases his rashness and that he is incapable of being a true friar. When giving Juliet the potion, after invoking the idea of killing herself, he trusts Juliet will follow through with his plan.
Romeo and Juliet is arguably the most famous story about love in literature. This is in part because of the tension caused by the look the different characters have towards what love means and its role in life. These views were very important for the progression of the story. Their different views collided and caused much grief and sorrow for the characters throughout play. Many important events that propelled the story forward would not have happened without the various feelings towards love the characters have and how they felt of and reacted to the other characters’ view on love.
With all the conflict arising between Juliet’s family, Friar Lawrence creates a plan that unfortunately does not succeed. His plan for Juliet is to tell her father she will marry Paris, then go to bed with no one, not even the nurse. After, she will drink a potion to make her seem dead for forty two hours and then have a messenger tell Romeo about it. He will have her put in a vault to wait for Friar to bring her out so she and Romeo can elope. The plan was perfect until tragedy occurs, Benvolio sees Juliet dead and immediately tells Romeo about it.
Love is ironic. It can take you anywhere in the world unexpectedly, and turn you into a person that you never were. However, love is also two-faced, having both a negative and positive view. It is what drives you to the point where you do not know who you are anymore. In Shakespeare's story, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare perceives love with the personalities and actions of the characters, Romeo and Juliet. Both Romeo and Juliet are characterized as immature and irrational due to their "love." In addition, both characters fail to realize the reality of life and go towards the path of adolescence. Even though Romeo and Juliet are doomed at the end of the journey of "love," their demise was caused by their rash and silly decisions because their belief of everlasting love blinds them from reality and shapes their lives into an unstoppable time bomb.
Juliet fell in love with romeo really quickly. After meeting him, talking to him, and kissing him she was so in love with him that she wanted to get married to him and would be willing to do some crazy things for him. Juliet barely knew Romeo and Friar Lawrence married the two secretly hoping that it would end the feud between the two families. After Romeo got banished, Juliet was willing to do some very crazy things to be with Romeo and in the end she agreed to do the friar’s plan.
Romeo has a passion for love that is unbreakable, and he will do anything to get who he wants, no matter the consequences that might follow. An example of this is when Romeo goes to Juliet’s balcony and confesses his love for her, but what he does not understand is that “if they do see thee, they will murder thee” (Shakespeare II.ii.75). Romeo has trouble accepting the reality that it will not work out for him or her because of family differences. The intensity of love in both of these texts becomes a dangerous and violent thing.
