It was a cold morning on July 18 1918 (Biography), and early Thursday morning the sun was starting to come out. On this day a very strong leader/activist person was born, this person’s name is Rolihlahla Madiba or as many people know him Nelson Mandela. There was a lot of happiness that filled the air when he was born his mother and father were really happy, he had many other siblings before he was born. The small village he was born in was mostly dirt and grass, it still looks the same to this day. (Keller) During his childhood he would play with the other boys his age around the village. They would play with rocks and dirt, the woman would cook outside in open fire. Mandela was poor at a young age, ate little they usually ate what they could afford like vegetables and fruits, and had very little water. (Saho) Mandela went on to become the first in his family to attend school, this made him the most successful in his family. He won more awards than anyone in history, he received more than 250 awards! Including honorary degrees from more than 50 universities worldwide. (Biography) In 2009 Mandela’s Birthday which is on July 18th was declared Mandela Day, and international day to promote global peace and celebrate the South African leader's legacy. (Biography) His whole career would sadly come to an end on the month of December 5, 2013 a slightly cold day, Mandela dies at his home in Johannesburg Suburb of Hougnton. This day was very sad for many people not only did it affect his close ones but it also affected people who were inspired by him and people who knew him for what he had accomplished.
