Anthem Analysis In Anthem, Ayn Rand portrays the idea that risks may be scary and hard, but the risk may lead to an even better outcome. In the novel, Equality is the main character who lives in a future dystopian government controlled society. Not everyone is like Equality, others stick to the rules and constantly live in fear of the government. There is a difference from Equality and others both physically and mentally. He is taller than most men, which causes a burden. Normally, Equality escapes to a forbidden tunnel to collect his thoughts. He isn't allowed to be in the tunnel because the government does not know about his whereabouts, nor is he allowed to form his own individual thoughts. Although both of his actions are forbidden,
