And they'll sign in grateful chorus, ‘Well done, Sister Suffragette!’” With these lyrics, Mrs. Banks from Mary Poppins sings for the English’s women fight for the right to vote, or the suffragette motion. England and many other countries have given women the right to vote; however, in the Middle East, women might not face the same rights as women in the United States. Many women in the Middle East are faced with rights that look a lot like the rights of women in Biblical or medieval times faced. To women living in America, we might see this rules and regulations has harsh and unfair. With today with media, people from all over the world are increasingly aware of the way women are treated in the Middle East. Through the media, people around the world can see how Middle East women are treated by their clothing they are required to wear. As a young woman looking at the world, clothing is an important part to many women’s identity which is the same in the Middle East. In the Middle East, the strongest religious tie is Muslim. In the article “What factors determine the changing roles of women in the Middle East and Islamic States?” (2002), the author states that the Quran, the Islamic holy book, informs both men and women to dress modestly; however, most of the rules are applied to the women, and place on by the government. Despite the religious ties, the Middle East also has many Jews and Christians living among the population, and they too must follow the government’s rules.
