The French and Indian war was the North American conflict in a larger imperial war between Great Britain and France, known as the Seven Years War. The French and Indian War began in 1754 and ended in 1763 with the treaty of Paris. The war gave Great Britain huge territorial gains in North America but led to the American Revolution due to disputes over frontier policy.
The French and Indian war is also known a the Seven Years the War was a struggle between Britain and France that arose after French expansion into the Ohio River valley. Repeated conflict with British colonies especially Virgina, and a series of battles led to the declaration of war by Britain in 1756. The imperial struggle between Britain and France lasted seven years from 1756 to 1763. Throughout the period, the British military effort struggles because of lack of interest from the homeland, rivalries among the American colonies, and the fact that the French had successfully won the support of the Indians. To gain control over the population in the new world, they issued a Royal Proclamation that prohibited for people to settle west of the line drawn in the Allegheny Mountains. The war left Britain with a large debt. Moreover, the war created a resentment towards the colonist among the English leaders that were left unsatisfied with the financial and military help they have received from the colonists during the war. These factors urged the English leaders to reorganize the colonies and change the central authority to London. The Treaty of Paris ensured the colonial and overseas supremacy of Britain and strengthened the 13 American colonies by removing their European rivals. Fifteen years later, the bitterness over the loss of most of their empire, the French contributed to the American Revolution against their mother country
