In regards to staffing, I really want to build and mentor from within. If I were to get hit by a bus I want the livelihood of my team members unthreatened, I also want our members/customers to be taken care of. As of now, I am determined to train and mentor two individuals. I want both individuals to learn both the operations side of the business and the accounting/HR side as-well. As I stated in the beginning, I want my ops manager to be college educated, and experienced in project and business management. I want the second individual (preferably a woman) also, college educated and experienced in accounting and the daily administrative functions of an office. I want my team-members to focus on servicing our clients, and not having to worry so much about regulations. We begin with office and field attire. Office attire will consist of black, charcoal, or grey slacks along with a company logo polo shirt.
Field attire will consist of rugged Dickies style pants with a company logo polo shirt if they are inspecting a facility and a long-sleeve shirt if they are performing any type of work. The SOP booklet will also contain a flowchart of who holds what place in the company and what are their specific tasks, and to whom they report to. I also want a directory so that everyone in the company is accessible. I also would like to dedicate a list of words to use and not to use when dealing with a client. I’ve learned that particular words can offend certain individuals, especially terms that generalize a specific culture or race. I also want a section that explains the specific gear/equipment a technician must wear when providing service and how they should wear it. A section that reminds our staff of what steps should be taken in the event of an emergency is imperative, and how to overcome those circumstances. The information required from facilities under RMP helps local fire, police, and emergency response personnel prepare for and respond to chemical emergencies. Making RMPs available to the public also fosters communication and awareness to improve accident prevention and emergency response practices at the local level. As a preventive measure, I have established that all chemicals that are being transported will be under lock and key in a fire resistant truck shed. The following is a narrow outline of what is minimally required by the EPA.
• Hazard assessment that details the potential effects of an accidental release, an accident history of the last five years, and an evaluation of worst-case and alternative accidental releases;
• Prevention program that includes safety precautions and maintenance, monitoring, and employee training measures; and
• Emergency response program that spells out emergency health care, employee training measures and procedures for informing the public and response agencies (e.g the fire department) should an accident
