Quality Quality encompasses a cultural reflection of perfection. “Quality means putting out the best product or service possible.” “Quality means doing the right thing at the right time.” “Quality is a resistance to compromise.” (Chowdhury, 2017). There is much wisdom in recognizing that quality doesn’t mean the same thing to everyone. Quality is a word that is used all the time, but can mean something different from one person to the next. The reason I think quality means something different to all of us is because not everyone has the same work ethic. Although, we are all different in many areas and all have different work ethics, ironically, we can recognize something that encompasses quality instantly.
Quality encompasses pride, hard work, and a dedication to a craftsmanship surpassing all others. Quality can be described by different levels, such as a low or high quality which can be referring to a product or service. When I think of quality I envision 100% effort and dedication to the delivery of a perfected product exceeding customer requirements. There are several costs associated the quality of the product or service. Some of the examples of costs associated are for the purposes of appraisal, prevention, failure, internal, external and even return of quality costs. Product quality and service comes with so many different costs because there are so many aspects defining operational quality. Operational quality is to ensure that quality products and services are achieved. Operational quality comes with the understanding that there are costs and benefits of quality which are recognized upon the consequences of poor quality.
