My motivation for seeking my Masters in Public Health degree from Benedictine University stems from an interest in undering standing disease, researching, than educating the public about best how to prevent infection. This interest was sparked after watching the 1993 movie And The Band Played On in my 8th grade health class, which focused on the start of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the scientists and public health officials dealt with the beginning of unknown illness. This was the first time I was ever able to see the research side of disease and infection. Although this movie is somewhat fictionalized and some of the information is now incorrect, I began my interest. However, it is not a job I could see myself doing for a continuous number of years. An online MPH degree would impact my life in numbers of way. One would be that I would be able to work in a field of work that I am very passionate about. The online MPH degree will also allow me to work my full time with and continue to live in the city I love. Upon completion of my degree, I would love to go back to the Native American tribe I belong to able to help that community become more healthy and be able to help them Public Health matters that affect tribal member both on tribal land and throughout the state. Throughout my life, I have moved multiple times as a young child and learning the skills to be able to create friends and adapt to my new surroundings. While in college, I was able to study abroad in London, England. During my time in London, I was able to learn about another culture hands. I was able to explore different cities in different countries and see the difference between those countries and the United States.
