Princess Diana: A Philanthropist of Her Time
As Princess Diana once pronounced, “’Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you’” (“Diana Quotes”). This statement is not only a cry for assistance and action, but a motto of Diana’s life overall. She was a humanitarian and a very tender-hearted person. She yearned to help others with no compensation whatsoever. Because of her endeavors, she is remembered as a gift to today’s society. Princess Diana benefitted modern society by raising awareness about the outbreak of HIV and AIDS, dedicating her time to the sick and dying, and promoting charities and issues around the world.

Princess Diana went overseas to visit the sick and dying in places such as Angola, Australia, Egypt, Bosnia, India, and Pakistan (“Princess Humanitarian”). Her visits were far from home and quite often displayed that she truly was dedicated to her humanitarian work all around the world. Princess Diana demonstrated her weekly visits to hospitals saying, “’I make trips at least three times and week, and spend up to four hours at a time with patients holding their hands and talking to them’” (“Princess Humanitarian”). In her home of London, she spent most of her days sympathizing with the hospital patients. Any patient she encountered was truly receiving a gift. They would be overwhelmed by her presence and hope she brought to their failing lives.
