Photography Personal Statement

After years of experimenting with photography, I now want to hand my camera over to others as a photographer. Photographers typically are closely attached to their cameras, both physically and emotionally, and do not normally let others take pictures with them. However, in my recent project, I dared to do it and I could get rewards with bigger inspirations by witnessing people go through new, cheerful, and artistic communication and experiments. It was a watershed moment in my history as a photographer, and helped form my aspiration and vision to grow as a creative visual artist and an instructor even firmer. I wish to present innovative and fresh perspectives through my works and make a positive impact on the society. My primary drive for making greater impacts through photography is the consolation and healing I have experienced through it. I was able to contemplate on my own being and memories through photography and it helped to boost my self-esteem. I wish to invite others to share this positive energy of photography.

Life is a tragedy when seen in close-up, but a comedy in long-shot, a saying of Charlie Chaplin, so is family. Becoming complex and diverse the society, emerging neglected familial problems in their relationship exists in diverse types of family. Especially, in my undergraduate thesis, I suggested participant-oriented activities for new types of family in South Korea. In general, Koreans, and even other people around the world, are conservative and passive to solve their familial problems.
