This is the first two sentences of a quote by Martin Luther King Jr., 1967. Violence hasn't changed, in a way violence over the years has pretty much been the same. It's been consistent, and in some cases have gotten worse.

Today we have problems regarding equality. They have the laws, but some people feel as if they aren't acted upon. Back before the Jim Crow law passed, white people wouldn't even go to the same school as a black individual. They wouldn't drink out of the same fountain, or sit at the same seats in the bus. Now, we have the laws. And things like the "Black Lives Matter" movement. Even though every single individual is different, doesn't matter the race, size, looks... We're all different. And people can't even speak for themselves. They have to do it by starting riots and having protests. They speak their mind as a whole, and not as an individual. …show more content…

On September 21, 2016 in Charlott, N.C. A black lives matter protest occurred, and it ended with 16 officers that suffered injuries, one person arrested, and one person shot to death. Marchers threw bottles and clods of dirt at officers. And after a shooting officers set off tear gas and flash grenades while protesters threw fireworks. It just goes to show that people respond with violence and that's how it's been. If something happens people typically respond that way in an effort to scare someone or get their point across. With a similar story, recently at Donald Trumps inauguration in January, people were rioting and 217 people were arrested just by early evening. And 6 of the officers that suffered minor injuries caused by rocks and other projectiles. Many people were armed with hammers and crowbars. Officers responded with pepper spray and flash
