Many people believe that changing the scholastic calendar from being traditional to one with a year-round schedule will help improve a student’s education. The main argument that supporters propose state that through having a year-round calendar student’s academic performance will improve because of the increase in the time that will be spent in the classrooms. However, research, studies, and evidence shows that making this change is actually unbeneficial. Switching from a traditional calendar to a year-round one will not be beneficial for those students having trouble concentration over a long period of time. This lack of focus will most likely cause behavioral problems. Students with a lack of focus are more likely to cause disruptions in class; this is what causes the most frustration between peers, teachers, and parents. With changing to a year-round calendar, students will have a shorter summer (with only be 30 days) and less vacation days. With less summer days you will be neglected from a chance to explore your world, attend historic family trips, etc. For example, for families who like to travel to historical sites during the summer time or during their vacation they wouldn’t have enough time to enjoy their vacations. Why you ask, well first of all the popular locations like Washington, DC or Boston, Massachusetts would be overcrowded because everyone would be trying to fit a vacation into their one month of summer or during their limited amount of vacation days. In addition to crowded, parents who have children with different calendars will find it difficult to try to plan a family vacation because of the different summer and vacation
