Palmer’s thought has inspired a need to investigate the idea that an individual possesses gifts at birth. I have assumed, as others have, that a person develops strengths by progressing through life. Across our experiences one can weed out and redefine true strength. On occasion friends and family have applauded my ability to live life on my chosen terms. They express envy with my ability to take chances in the absence of fear. This notion is surprising, as I remember long ago, rarely getting out of my comfort zone.
