Personal Narrative: Keeping An Open Mind

From the time we are young and to our latter years, the choices we make affect our lives in many ways. Some of the choices we do make will stay with us forever. Throughout my life, I was always taught to keep an open mind. By keeping an open mind, this allowed me to learn from my mistakes, participate and interact more with the world around me. An open mind also allowed me to grow stronger mentally, emotionally, and physically. My growth throughout my life up to now led me to being the person I am now and my future career.

As said before, I was always taught to keep an open mind. With an open mind, I was able to enjoy life and experience wonderful opportunities. I already had many goals, but my friends, family, and teachers encouraged me to reach these goals. An example of this is when I first joined the band. My interest in music pushed me to join the band, but my friends and family encouraged me more to the point where I finally joined. My teachers also played a huge role, just like both parties by supporting us. With their assistance, I was able to have twice the motivation I had instilled within myself. I love helping people, so my aspiration is to become a registered nurse and then a nurse practitioner. I would already be able to assist people as a registered nurse, but as a nurse practitioner, I would be able to help a wider range of people, along with the added benefit of a fantastic salary. I feel that this career is right for me due to all the skills I will be able to learn to help others and myself. To achieve this goal, I will attend Wallace Community College in Dothan, Alabama for two years, and then I will transfer to Troy University in Troy, Alabama to finish earning my BSN.
