I like to believe that being Canadian means that I am different than other people from other countries, I like to believe that we are strong and just because we are young doesn’t mean we are not. I also like to believe that we are unpredictable. In my life I have always been interested in learning about the world and history. From this I have learned that me going to school every day is something I have for being Canadian it is different than other countries. I have gotten a hard work ethic because by being Canadian there are smart people that I have to compete with to be successful, I have to persevere. I never thought I would be taking a grade 12 university English, but I had two grade 8 teachers who believed in me. They told me that I am smart and if I took applied I would be bored. My teacher told me that I would probably get 60’s I’ve gotten 70’s. I have spent my entire High school career trying to prove that I am smart, I work hard and making honour roll my first semester felt like the Canadians taking the ridge, I did what most people can’t do. Vimy Ridge is much more than a battle, it is about a country coming together, a country of many different people. But that has everything to do with my worldviews, because I believe that it tells the story of every Canadian. That battle is what allows us to speak english and french, if that battle wouldn’t have been succeeded who know’s if the allies would have won the war. In grade 10 history I learned all about Vimy Ridge, that class taught me that to be Canadian means to be yourself. Vimy, the Battle Of Kitchener Woods, and Passchendaele are three things that taught me that Canada is a place to be proud of, that we went into a war that wasn’t ours and made the enemy think what are these people. Our youngness defeated them but that is also what the british believed made us weak. That to me, makes me want to use all of my weaknesses as strengths.
