My personal code of chivalry is something I will hold dearly and close to my heart for my whole life. Before my freshman year here at East Noble High School, I had just moved to the Kendallville, Indiana area from 3 hours south. I didn’t know anyone and had to start all new. This is when my values became exceedingly important and I had to stand up for what I knew was right. Moving was particularly tough for me because I was leaving all of my closest friends that I have grown up with. I had to find friends with the same values and aspirations that I held. My faith has always been one of my biggest values that I hold dearly. It was difficult to make friends and tempting to change my values to develop friends. I wanted to fit in, but I also didn’t want to change and be someone I’m not. I witnessed several scenarios within my first year of high school that I had to turn away from because in my heart I knew they weren’t right. I learned to stay strong and pray to God to help me find my place in the high school environment. Volleyball was one activity that I was able to become a part of as a resolution to being a new kid. I had been cut from the team because there wasn’t a place for me that year. Accepting that this wasn’t where God wanted me to be was extremely difficult for me. He had other plans for me though. I gradually was able to bounce back and become a stronger person through my faith. When rebounding from volleyball God opened more doors and possibilities for me to participate in and enjoy. I was able to take a step to think more about life after high school and what I wanted to pursue in life. I got involved in East Noble’s DECA club, where I successfully found my love for business.
