Perseverance is the will someone has to do hard things in order to survive or achieve a goal.Buck had to fight to survive even if it was tough and everything was against him.My mom had to persevere in a new school when she knew nothing about it.Both Buck and my mom had to persevere through hard things and fight to get through they’re conflict. Bucks perseverance is different than my moms but it is still a huge part of who he is as a being.He had to go through many hardships and difficulties in the Klondike gold rush.But he persevered through it all and even met an owner he love and would give his life to save.Buck had harder conflicts and problems than my mom. But that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t take a lot of will and power to get through
If you were given the chance to go back in time and into the Klondike gold rush, then, would you? If you said yes then think about this, the gold miners of the Klondike gold rush dealt with many more hardships than the California gold rush. I think this because of the climate that the miners had to face, the competition from other miners, the geography and the topography of the region, the traveling and the technology in the region that is also known as the Yukon Territory. After reading this you might consider that it would be better to be in the California gold rush than in the Klondike gold rush.
The Pikes Peak Gold Rush took place between July of 1858 and February of 1861. The Pikes Peak Gold Rush was later to be named the Colorado Gold Rush due to its location. It was only the start of the mining industry. Thousands of people took place in mining, those of which were called the “fifty-niners.” William G. Russell was the leader of the expedition to the Rockies. He was married to a Cherokee Indian, which is how he heard of the gold findings in 1849. Based on the rumors of the gold that was being found in Pikes Peak, Russell organized a group including his two brothers and six companions to seek the gold. Some people are born with it, others are not so lucky. It’s the feeling of raw bravery and a want to be the best. A way of always seeing the light even before the dawn. People often mistake it for just “never giving up”, but this is much more, almost a superpower. Perseverance is not just the optimisty of dreamers it’s knowing how to live, even when you’d rather be dead.
Many people spend their whole lives trying to make money and become rich. One imagines a lifestyle where they do not have to work to provide for their families and they can enjoy the finer things in life. Some may go to great lengths to find this source of richness, even if this involves packing up and moving far away. Many people found a way to make this dream of being rich a reality on January 24, 1848. While constructing a sawmill for John Sutter, James W. Marshall discovered gold in the American River. Many people flocked to California in search of the golden treasure and to follow their dream. This was the start of the California Gold Rush. The California Gold Rush was an important part of the history of the United States; it helped to settle the western United States, increased the economy of California, and negatively impacted the Native Americans living in the west.
In any case of war, the will to continue on and live is essential for survival. The feeling of going on no matter what horrendous situation is called persevering. Giving up is never a good option, the chances of survival or accomplishing is almost to none. A real-life example is the legacy of Louis Zamperini, a famous Olympic miler who was taken as a Japanese POW which is written in author Laura Hillenbrand’s book Unbroken. Laura Hillenbrand’s Unbroken portrays the message of persevering in the direst situation is essential for survival.
Many people show perseverance, including me. I showed perseverance when I failed a quiz and I knew to get my grade up I had to work harder and study more. I knew if my parents found out that I failed a quiz they would yell at me and would be disappointed on me for getting a bad grade on a quiz because I didn’t study. This factor contributes me to work harder, I learned that I need to work harder to succeed, like Salva, how he showed perseverance by looking for his family.
There have been many discoveries that have shaped our nation as a whole. Discoveries have allowed our country to thrive and become one of the most powerful nations in the world. When we look back at our nation's rich history, it is clear to see that there was one discovery in particular that had a vast impact on the United States; the discovery was gold in California. It was in this vastly unoccupied territory that the American dream was forever changed and California emerged as a powerful state busting at the seams. The California Gold Rush shaped California into the state that it is today. California is defined by its promise of entrepreneurial success and its acceptance and encouragement of obtaining the American Dream.

Then and now are not so different, people are thriving or failing from the land of plenty, supplying themselves with knowledge, wealth, or skill to either spread their wings and take flight or crash and burn. Each state in the United States of America has a correlating nickname to either why it’s famous or an explanation of its history. California’s state name is The Golden State, and going all the way back to 1849 is why this was such an influential time for California and all of America. This is the period of the Gold Rush. Reasons why this event was so impeccable, to the development of California, are the years leading up to the discovery, the first findings, the journey, and so much more.

Sugar Ray Robinson was just a normal colored boy. He was born and raised in the South. He had a rough early life, due to the KKK, parents fighting, moving, pretty much everything that could’ve gone wrong went wrong. Then, he got involved in Boxing. He was good, and I mean good. The novel Warriors Don’t Cry by Melba Pattillo Beals has many themes that are shown. One of the major themes that stuck out to me was inner strength and perseverance. Inner strength means to have Integrity of character: resoluteness of will: mental resistance to doubt or discouragement. Perseverance means steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.

Professors and scholars over the last two decades from various fields of study have taken a deeper look into the Gold Rush phenomena. When California joined the Union in 1850 it helped the U.S. expand westward just as most Americans had intended to do. The event of the Gold Rush can be viewed as important because it led to a national railroad. It also provided the correct circumstances for successful entrepreneurship, capitalism, and the development modern industrialization. One last aspect of grit is the ability to overcome animosity. Failure is imminent, and in order to achieve success, one must get up, face their fears and keep moving forward. Most people will face at least one person that they would rather not deal with, but they have to anyway in order to keep their job or get through school. In his presentation “Failing Forward” which covered the topic of grit, Professor Eddinger painted a picture of overcoming animosity. During times of crisis, there are two kinds of people. The ones that refuse to try and surrender, or the ones that do anything to survive. Some will burglarize, others will go primitive and attack, but no matter what troubles are ahead of them, people will always do their best to persevere.
Along with her determination, Jamiee showed her perseverance while handling several outside-of-school problems. Personal issues arose during one of the most busiest times of the year, yet she still tried to do her best in everything she was involved in. Although there was a drastic change going on, she still managed to stay in one of the top positions of the class and be one of the best captains this school had ever seen.
