Many high school graduates continue to further their education in college but then some students “have no clue what they want to major in” or they “do not have the money to spend on college”. For instance, Americans understand how money can affect receiving a higher education, but money should not be the determining factor on whether or not a student should continue on their path of education. After reading the article “The Path to Debt Free College” written by Wesley Coopersmith and interviewing a family member, Lisa Stevenson, people have concluded that there are multiple ways to make college can be more affordable. During my interview, Lisa said “Online courses are cheaper, but a lot harder and the student has to be a self-motivated person”(Stevenson). Many college university do offer online courses, which can make college cheaper, but also universities could use programs like “CLEP” stated in the article, which allow students to “test out” and receive college credit. Regarding online course, students should have an easier time passing and achieving college online, most students struggle with time management and learning over the internet. In the same way, students and college boards need to aspire to make college inside the classroom cheaper not only online course. Currently, seventy-one graduating students have on average twenty-five thousand five hundred dollars in debt walking out of college and fifty-one percent of graduates end up in a workplace that doesn't require a college degree. A lot of careers support online courses and will help workers or interns pay for school, but the biggest problem is juggling a job and school and sometimes even a family while going to school and most degrees aren't even used in the …show more content…

High school district leaders should give many more options of financial help and debt free programs for students pursuing higher education. Another source states that education should be available for everyone not just students looking to go to college after high school. The article, “This is How to Make Higher Education Affordable for Everyone” by Quora explains that students should be allowed more options to make college less expensive and with “no tuition, no charge for books and supplies, subsidized transportation, housing, and food options, and a work program for those who need the extra money” this can save a college student a lot of money and make more students want to attend college after high school (Quora). Furthermore, in this article, is that the younger generations have to take apart of elections, if students voted for presidents, mayors, senators, etc there would be a wider range of making college more affordable. Regarding this, another example from Quora’s article was “Fix the federal work-study program. Everyone likes it, many people qualify for it, but it's underfunded and badly allocated”(Quora). Not to mention, students also need help from higher up officials, such as the government or federal leaders. On the other hand, many students can take initial starts to saving money and be smart of how they pursue higher
