In The Lord of the Flies the parachutist represents fear, and the beast. Ralph and Jacks see the parachutist and instantly thought of it as the beast. All of the boys are fearful of the parachutist because of what Ralph and Jack say about it. During Jack’s feast, Simon goes into the forest and finds the dead parachutist. Simon finds out that the parachutist was not the beast, and that there was not a beast at all, it was just everyone’s imagination, goes, and tells the boys that there is not a beast and they all think he is senseless and they kill Simon. Ralph is becoming mentally insane like Jack towards the end of the book. Ralph is going crazy because of the fright of the beast. He helps Jack kill Simon when Simon came back and told them that there was not a beast and it was all in their imagination. Ralph was also involved in the killing of Piggy, Piggy was killed by a big rock that had been rolled off a cliff and hit his head. This is unlike Ralph to be acting …show more content…

Ralph is on his way to the feast and he looks up and see a pig’s head on a stick on the path. The pig head on a stick means leader, and that is Jack’s way of saying that he is going to be the leader. Jack invites Ralph to the feast to attempt to kill him so that he can be the leader of the group. Jack is going crazy because of the terror of the beast and wants to kill Ralph so that he can be the leader. Simon is not crazy like everyone else, he goes and finds the dead parachutist and finds out that there is not a beast. Simon helped the littluns pick fruit off the trees when they could not reach it. Simon helped build all the huts for everyone to live in. When everything started to go south Simon went into the forest and watched white flowers so he could get away from everyone. Simon was a lot different from everyone else; he was helpful and innocent throughout the book, and he is probably my favorite character in the
