Michael Jordan is a multi-talented athlete and business person. Michael Jordan was born February 17,1963, in Brooklyn, New York. His family would eventually relocate from Brooklyn, New York to Wilmington, North Carolina where Michael Jordan would eventually develop his love and passion for multiple sports. Michael was the third child of four, two older brothers, an older sister and a younger brother. Michael Jordan’s parents (Deloris Peoples and James R. Jordan Sr.) had a tremendous impact on all of their lives with his father being a general electric plant supervisor, and his mother is a bank accountant. Michael was usually demoralized because he was no competition to his older brother, Larry, this is where Michael got his competitive drive from. Michael also was not very tall during his young age and did not believe he would get any taller because the lack of height in the Jordan family, in fact, the Jordan family would not have a person reach over six feet. Michael Jordan basketball beginnings began at Emsley A Laney High School, as a sophomore Michael decided to tryout for the varsity team, but was cut because he was raw and undersized. Michael was really at a disadvantage of making the varsity team mainly because he was 16 playing against 18-year-olds that were fully developed in size and height. Michael would run home while his mom was at work nobody was home he ran to his room and closed the door and cry, that was the first time Michael would realize he was not good enough to make the team. Michael would then accept the junior varsity challenge and starred on junior varsity. The following summer Michael grew four whole inches and practiced tirelessly. The hard work he put in would finally pay off as he averaged 25 points per game in his last two years. Michael would then lead Laney to a number one state ranking. Unfortunately
