The “American Dream” : Reality or Illusion The “American Dream” is the foundation of which this nation stands on. The “American Dream” is a reality that most want. It consist of various benefits such as freedom , liberty , and a carefree lifestyle. The question remains “ Is it really the “American Dream” reality or falsification of a lifestyle that isn’t attainable. We all know in order to live free , and have these rights we must work , and work hard. The land of the free , and home of the brave. A famous portion of our National Anthem. This is why indiviudals want to reside in this nation. According to the Webster Dictionary , American Dream is defined as the ideals of freedom , equality , and opportunity traditionally help to be available to every American. A life of personal happiness and material comfort as traditionally sought by individuals in the U.S. Families , and individuals continuously try to cross borderlines , hop on ships and utlize other illegal methods to come to America to live this dream. The “American Dream” is a successful life, it’s the ideal life most want. The “American Dream” consist of stability of having a great income to support the essentials in life : shelter , food , and clothing. This dream is something these families and individuals want to attain in order to support their families and children in their homeland. These people work harder than some of the citizens we have here in order to support their loved ones. Nonetheless , we all hope to attain this form of “happiness” . Everyone wants the lavish lifestyle which consist of the expensive cars , big homes , designer label accessories , and clothing. The Ivy League school acceptance letters , and the perfect family. There are steps necessary ... ... middle of paper ... ...of the “American Dream” is compatible with the sort of political culture that political scieentists believe is necessary to sustain a healthy democratic governmental system in the United States , because of the altered views , and naïve attitude of many. The culture is changing education is being placed on the backburner , and other political issues are placed at the forefront. Education is consistenly being defunded , curriculum being altered time after time. Isn’t education supposed to be a pillar of the “American Dream” ? Not in the society now. The term “The American Dream” dream has a different interprertation depending on what you read : dictionary , legal document , newspaper or the Declaration of Independence. The famous line in the Declaration of Independence is “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” is what most Americans , if not all strive for.
