When there is a sudden feeling of overwhelming fear and anxiety, the condition is regarded by doctors as having a panic attack. This condition is also linked to a mental health problem called "panic disorder". The symptoms of people having panic attacks are: a difficult in breathing (since your heart is pounding heavily); feeling dizzy; and feeling sick to your stomach. For others, they even start thinking that they're already going crazy or they're near dying. Looking at the symptoms, these are not very good signs. Finding ways to stop panic attacks should be a priority. When you ignore it, it may just result to panic disorders or other types of serious mental health problems.
There is no need to worry because this sickness is treatable.

Doctors usually treat panic ailments the same way as panic disorders because they can be linked together. There are self-help strategies, medications and even a series of therapy sessions which are known to reduce or eliminate panic symptoms.

This is one highly suggested therapy option for those who are suffering from panic dilemma. This therapy is considered by medical experts as the most effective among the treatment options available for anxiety attacks and or disorder. • Exposure Therapy
This is another highly suggested therapy for these attack sufferers. This therapy involves exposing attack sufferers to some or all physical sensations of panic. However, in the course of the treatment, these are done only in a safe & controlled environment. Through the process, patients can learn other healthier yet effective ways to cope with these attacks. What doctors usually do is they ask patients to hold their breath or hyperventilate. They do this because they want patients to feel similar sensations of panic. The concept is - the patients are subjected to this environment, the more they will become less afraid of their internal bodily sensations. This is noted as a good way to feel in control of your panic

The onset of Generalized anxiety disorder begins in childhood or adolescents, and It can have a lifetime prevalence of 3-5% with a higher risk in women. One major effect of Generalized Anxiety Disorder is excessive worry or anxiety lasting up to 6 months at a time, although individuals that have Generalized Anxiety Disorder don’t identify their worrying as excessive all of the time, but they will recount subjective distress because of a constant worry, or may have difficulty with control over the worrying, or even experience social impairment. How do people see the world? When communicating with others, thinking about oneself, and examining the world, each person adopts a specific lens through which they perceive their life. It has been stated that mental disorders like anxiety can dramatically alter this lens, shift a person’s worldview, or greatly modify their personality. It is my desire to study this phenomena and discover consistent differences in the perspectives of those with anxiety. I begin with a question: Do those with anxiety disorders bear a different and distinct perspective on universal concepts such as the world, life itself, and relation to others? Previous research seems to suggest that those suffering from anxiety disorders do hold these similar and distinct mindsets (Video).
Panic attacks can be a very debilitating disorder across many cultures, and there are many medical and psychotherapy treatments available that can help one cope and lessen the impact of fear is has on one’s life. Despite such treatments currently available, none can provide the freedom from fear that is found only in the presence of Jesus Christ.
According to DSM V, Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD), is defined as a persistent fear of one or more social or performance situations in which the person is exposed to unfamiliar people or to possible scrutiny by others. The individual fears that he or she will act in a way (or show anxiety symptoms) that will be embarrassing and humiliating (DSM V, 2014).
Severe anxiety, which can be described as an episode of terror, is referred to as a panic attack. Panic attacks can be extremely frightening. People who experience panic attacks over a prolonged time period may become victims of agoraphobia, which is a psychiatric disorder that is closely associated with the panic disorder. Patients with Agoraphobia avoid certain places or situations such as airplanes, crowded theaters, a grocery store or anyplace from which escape might be difficult. It is said that Agoraphobia can be so severe that it has made certain individuals housebound.
An increased heart rate, uncontrollable shaking, and a feeling of suffocation characterize panic attacks. An example of this disorder would be the feeling a person would get while being near water after a near drowning experience. The usual treatment involves controlling the cognitive responses that a patient gets when suffering a panic attack. Individuals that suffer from constant panic attacks are diagnosed with a panic disorder. Panic disorders are characterized by reoccurring panic attacks, people with these disorders also suffer from anxiety about the consequences of further attacks. Patients with a panic disorder can develop agoraphobia; an irrational fear of large crowds.
Panic attacks are the third kind of phobia. They can change the quality of a person’s life. Do you know what it feels like to have your palms sweat, throat close up, and your fingers tremble? This is the everyday life of someone who lives with anxiety. As soon as I wake up in the morning, I hear my brain freaking out about the day ahead of me. What do I eat for breakfast? What do I do first when I get home from school? What happens if I get in a car crash on my way to school? A million thoughts at one time racing through my head. I never have the time to process all of them. Most mornings, I lay in my bed and have to take a few deep breaths to begin my hectic but not so hectic day. That’s just the beginning. It’s safe to say that I feel that I 'm an anxious person and that I have an anxiety disorder.

Having support from someone could prevent a panic attack and help tremendously because it is always comforting to know you are not alone. The most effective way to help someone with an anxiety disorder is first understanding the differences between feeling nervous and owning anxiety disorders. It is an illness that is capable of dealing a lot of damage to a person’s mental health, and without proper help can be fatal. Anxiety disorders can easily evolve into depression and can make a person feel trapped or even suicidal. Knowing the proper procedures can greatly affect people with these disorders and could possibly save someone’s life.
