Multiple tragic events occurred in the play Othello and it was mostly death betrayal and even deceit. These events could have only occurred because somebody made them happen or some people. The tragic events the arose were due to the actions of two men, Othello the main character and the general of the Venetian army and Iago, one of Othello soldiers. During the course of this essay we are going to be figuring out who is the most to blame for the catastrophic events that have taken place in Othello.
Now Othello has been on a very emotional ride after what he has been hearing from Iago about his wife Desdemona being unfaithful towards him and the reason only this all happened is because Othello didn’t choose Iago to be his …show more content…

Othello also allowed himself to be corrupted by the words of Iago. An example of this is in Act 3 Scene line 197 where Iago and Othello are speaking and Iago says 'Look to your wife, observe her well with Cassio'. This puts doubt in Othello's mind about his wife. Iago speaks in a very beautiful way which is nowadays known as persuasive so Othello is lured into believing him. What makes it worse is that Iago is known as Honest Iago so how could Othello not trust him. With a small amount of words told by Iago Othello allowed his mind to make up its own story. Even after this Iago still continued to whisper lies into Othello's ear by saying she deceived her father and she may deceive him as well. In the end Othello's vulnerability has been taken advantage of and ends up killing his wife then after he learns the truth he commits suicide.
As I said before Othello is not the only person whose fault it is that the tragic events came about. Iago is also to blame and his plan was even more devious than Othello's plan. Iago was the one who transferred the poison words into Othello's heart and mind. Even though it is Othello who does the actions Iago is the one who propels him to do so. For example after Iago has changed Othello's emotion from love to anger he makes plans to kill his wife:
'Get me some poison, Iago, this night: I'll not expostulate with …show more content…

Constantly, Iago refers to himself in satanic and demonic ways for example in Act 2 Scene 3 Line 351-353 it says When Devils will the blackest sins put on, They do suggest at first with heavenly shows, As I do now. This term conveys that Iago relates himself to the devil saying he does things that may seem good but after he lays down sinister things. Worst of all he doesn’t even thing he is doing anything wrong and the quotation I just implies that he seems to be enjoying what he is doing. In addition Iago has been beginning to think that Othello has slept with his wife however there is absolutely no proof and absolutely no way because Othello loves Desdemona it is just Iago's Twisted mind working in its mysterious ways. 'I hate the
