One Day: A Fictional Narrative

Aleena snuck out at midnight just like she had done once a week for the past ten years. The year was 3015 and ever since having a family had been outlawed in 3005 she had gone to see her son Barret every wednesday night. As she approached the raisment center building she pulled out her bobby pin and picked the lock and walked to her sons room.
As soon as Barrett saw her he said “why do you come to see me you know it is illegal and could get thrown in jail.”
“I know” Aleena said quietly “I just don’t like how they took you away from me When you were only 5.” Barrett opened his mouth to say something but then the door opened and Carol walked through and yelled “WHO ARE YOU TALKING TO?” “I’m talkin to myself” Barrett lied quietly. “Well quiet down I’m trying to sleep” said Carol and then she clumsily stumbled out of the room.

“Let's go to High hill where we can talk without being discovered.”

They walked With science hanging between them like a sheet, but with their ideas floating in their heads like clouds.

When they got to the top Aleena sat down and said “we used to be so close. What happened?”, “I grew up” said Barrett. “You sure have, you’ve gotten taller, you’re even taller than me now.”
Barrett looked at Aleena and said “you don’t have to come see me any more, Carol is doing a good job of raising me.”
“I know” said Aleena, “And that is what worries me.”
“I will see you every day in three years when I turn 18.”
“Promise” says Aleena
