Oklahoma City Memorial Killing 168 people and injuring more than 680, the attack on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Downtown Oklahoma would remain the biggest act of terrorism before September 11, 2001. The truck bomb explosion took place on April 19, 1995 at 9:02 a.m. Memorials are set up for the lives taken that day, including a field of empty chairs. The bomb nearly blew up half of the building. 19 of the 168 lives taken were children under the age of 6, placed in the building at a daycare. The blast destroyed or made an impact on 324 buildings that were located within a sixteen-block radius. It had destroyed or burned 86 cars and shattered glass in 258 nearby buildings. 652 million dollars of damage was caused by the explosion.
