History has shown us that governments may not satisfy each individual at the same time, for which it will bring the collapse of that government or the tyranny of the masses; and if that is the case, we might take a seat because by the time a law is passed many will die, others will be born, or perhaps other will marry or get sick. However, Plato here shows in his Republic where nothing appears to go wrong because of the “Noble Lie” the citizens of this Republic will never know. Those who lead will not endanger the priority of the State, and for that matter, the noble lie brings control to a society.
Clearly, every government that has become a nation began with a ‘noble lie’ to raise in arms and fight for the cause. Socrates and Adeimantus argue by saying, “let’s make a city in a speech from the beginning. Our need, as it seems, will make it.” (46) It appears that Socrates, Adeimantus, and the rest of the young men had a necessity for a different government in their time.
