My Responsibilities in America My responsibilities in America would be to vote, be active in my community, and to do achieve greatness in all my classes in school. To be an American you need to have responsibilities in your daily lives. I’m an Eagle Scout so I have several responsibilities in my life. I help out my local community by simply picking up trash, help paint they’re local church when it needs painted, and to help others in the local community when they are in need of help. Have responsibility in your life will show others how much you appreciate the country you live in today. The first responsibility in America is to vote. To vote is a huge responsibility in America because America needs a voice for democracy. The vote you give is your voice you have for America and the voice you give has an effect on the person who will become your president. Responsibility in America is a great thing to have because it shows who you are as a United States citizen. The people who don’t vote are people who are not fulfilling their responsibilities as a United States citizen. …show more content…
Be active in your community will strengthen it as a whole by interacting will other members in the community. The more you are active in the community the more your community will flourish and that it will also show how much America really means to you. The community you live in is a part of America that you need to show responsibility by being active in your church, getting a fund together to build recreational park, and other things to help out your community. Many communities today don’t have this quality today and that needs to change because it is one of our responsibilities a citizen of
While being an American offers numerous benefits, it also brings with it certain imperative responsibilities. It is your duty to demonstrate your commitment to your country
Other duties include obeying the law, serving on a jury when summoned, paying taxes, voting, etc. The role of a good citizen does not end at fulfilling their duties, it begins. We must also advocate for recognized injustices in society that call for
If we all hold ourselves accountable for our actions and strive to achieve above and beyond, but for the purpose of the common good of society, we will not only be setting a good example for one another, but helping out those who are struggling. There should never be a reason for not trying to excel according to Beecher in Source No 2. According to source No. 3 from the Josephson Institute of ethics, one should “do what they are supposed to do”. If one has a good understanding of the outcome of their actions and the impact they have and they accept it then they are upholding their civic duty. This is similar to Abe Lincoln’s thoughts in his message to congress on Dec 1, 1862 when he said, “In times like the present, men should utter nothing for which they would not willingly be responsible through time and eternity” (Source No. 1) . Here it can be agreed that our actions impact our future, thus, it is important to make sure that what we are doing is upholding our good standards of our constitution. Source No. 4 also proves that we are makers of the pie. In this it breaks down the meaning of responsibility and compares it to our the true meaning of our constitution being our basic given rights as humans...such as the freedom to move, and feel and
A team is a group of individuals, all working together for a common purpose. The individuals comprising a team ideally should have common goals, common objectives and more or less think on the same lines. Individuals who are not compatible with each other can never form a team. They should have similar if not the same interests, thought processes, attitude, perception and likings.
According to Merriam-Webster, the meaning of responsibility is “something that you [people] should do because it is morally right, and legally required, etc.” In the United States, today’s society is composed of people from several cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Everyone has the legal responsibility to act as lawful citizens. Because they are lawful residents, it is their legal responsibility that they should obey the law. For example, everyone in America, citizens and legal residents, pays sales taxes regardless whenever they buy something. In the article “What Is an American?,” Michel-Guillaume Jean de Crèvecoeur describes elements of the American spirit make people American, even those that are coming from different countries. The author also mentions that people immigrated to the United States and they started their lives with American ways and found new identities for themselves. De Crèvecoeur introduces the idea of who is an American and how people changed over the time. The author
As an individual within a greater community, I know that I am just one piece to the whole. Each individual person within a community makes up one part of the entire thing. It is each individual’s actions that make that community what it is. In every community that I am in, I am an active member who cares about each member. I want the best for my community and will do whatever I can to make it a positive atmosphere for everyone. Community is such an important aspect in life, and everyone should be able to have the chance to experience
As an American citizen, who is on the cusp of being recognized as a legal adult, it is not just my responsibility but my duty to fulfill and promote the American ideals that our forefathers founded this great country on. These ideals include obeying all American laws and raising a generation that also follow the laws. I will continue my spirit of volunteerism that began in ninth grade and lasts a lifetime. I will also ensure that the American principles of democracy, love of the fellow man, and respecting the fact that all people regardless of race, religion or nationality were born equal.
I fully accept these responsibilities with open arms, but for me, my arms are carrying too light a load. My responsibility as an American citizen is so much more than what is required of us. Through the freedoms this country offers me I have been taught by wonderful teachers. I have been nursed back to health by distinguished doctors and nurses. I have been able to practice my faith with the help of incredible youth ministers and pastors. Because of these freedoms I am granted through my country, I am able to live a free life. That is why, like how the veterans and us young children in that Veteran’s Day assembly years ago, I choose to stand. I choose to stand for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I choose to stand for our freedoms. I choose to stand for the American dream. I choose to stand for the United States of America, the greatest nation in the world, full of opportunity and freedom. And that is my most basic responsibility to America, to stand for
People find their selves busy with normal daily lives they are still contributing to the community. But, people are going out and volunteering in their communities in many ways such as serving in community outreach programs, feeding citizens that are less fortunate, religious outreach programs, and working with the youth. In fact, the communitarian view emphasizes that citizens working together and understanding one another in the community may be as important as voting in local elections (Dye & Macmanus, 2015). Therefore, participation in local governments may not be what you would expect, but it is still essential to the community.
“Democratic citizens recognize that they not only have rights, they have responsibilities.” (www.ait.org.tw, Principles of Democracy: Citizens Responsibilities). Being a citizen of the U.S. has many responsibilities, roles, and rights, such as voting, volunteering , obeying laws, and being active within their community. It is important for the citizens of a state to partake in these type of responsibilities. for the strength of the community, state, and government (studyzone.org, Citizenship: Rights, Rules, and Responsibilities).
Every community no matter how big or small can benefit from more people willing to make a change. Stand up for a cause by investing time and energy into it. We can volunteer our time to keep our streets clean. Also we can share our skills and knowledge and be positive role models. All of us have dealt with moments of loneliness and sadness, so be kind to everyone around you.
Commitment to community is a requirement for contemporary Americans and vital to its survival. “Love thy neighbor as thyself” is the unselfish act of sharing: from a cup of sugar to a wealth of information to the guardianship of all children involved and the protection of every individual in that said community. Whether that community consists of the “Classic Neighborhood, those with a common set of goals, or those who share a common identity” the thread that holds this matrix together is always woven into the shared identity as well as responsibility of all involved. (Redmond, 2010). A community cannot continue to exist through the will of withdrawn individuals who arms only embrace themselves and have no involvement whatsoever with neighbors one door away.
The responsibilities of an American citizen, according to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), are as follows: Respect the Rights, Beliefs and Opinions of Others Stay Informed of the Issues That Affect Your Community Serve in a Jury When Called Upon Participate in the Democratic Process Defend the Country, if Need Should Arise Every United States citizen should perform these responsibilities, whether they were born in the United States or not. Although every citizen should follow these responsibilities, some people just do not care about the first two responsibilities, and that is understandable. I believe that I should follow these responsibilities, and I will admit that I do not. I was unaware of the first two
Raising community awareness to students will teach them the importance of being involved in the community. Students being able to give back to the community will prepare them for their journey to being a positive role model or servant leader.
