The difference of the 2 pictures is that picture 1 is very green with a skinny lake. In picture 2, everything is grey and the lake is much wider and is flowing much quicker. It also has a huge crater which was made because of a landslide. A science reporter named Eric Sorensen created a timeline on the events that occurred at Mount Saint Helens.
