Tens of thousand years ago, Thailand was covered with lush tropical rain forests. The fertile land, climatic conditions, abundant natural resources attracted early settlers and migrants throughout the periods, even up to the present. Modern Thailand was established in the mid 14th century it was known as Siam until 1939. Bangkok became known as the capital of Thailand in 1782. It is the most populous city in Thailand as well.

History of Bangkok:
The history of the city of Bangkok, in Thailand, dates at least to the early 15th century, when it was under the rule of Ayutthaya. In 1351, the Kingdom of Ayutthaya marked the beginning of the development of Thai people into an independent nation.

Thai, like Chinese and Vietnamese, is a tonal language meaning that the same word can have a completely different meaning depending on its pronunciation.

Buddhism is the predominant religion in Bangkok, with monks, temples, spirit houses, and Buddha images and statues everywhere you look around the city.

One of the most distinctive Thai customs is the wai, which is a way of greeting. But in the 20th century, was a time when modernity changed the face of Thailand and a great number of traditions disappeared or became adapted to modern life. Still, Thai people are trying to keep their old culture and behaviors and try not to change it with the modern life.
Due to Bangkok’s location they developed a unique trading technique which is known as the (Floating market), boats are piled high with tropical fruit and vegetables, fresh, ready-to-drink coconut juice and local food cooked from floating kitchens located right on the boat.

Trade:
Good geographic location and the natural resources have always been the essential conditions of a successful trade in Thailand. They produced leather goods but only raw materials such as skins of deer, buffaloes and sharks were exported. Regarding metal ware they exported iron, lead and tin. Copper was imported from japan and used in making bronze, and some was re-exported to south Asia. On the other hand, they imported manufactured products from the other Asian countries, and good quality of printed cotton from India. Thai themselves produced cheap cotton textiles and exported them to the poorer countries in southern Asia.

In conclusion, even though Bangkok was late in becoming a modern city, at the end they made a history and they are proud of their past which made Bangkok a more productive city. Now a days Bangkok became one of the biggest tourist attraction destinations, due to their exotic historical style country and their modernity on the other hand.
