The famous television series Mister Rogers Neighborhood was on air for 33 years and produced over 900 episodes. In 2018, the Academy Award-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville and a group of people decided to get together to create a documentary about Fred Rogers, the creator of this show’s life. I would recommend the documentary Won’t You Be My Neighbor? for any child who grew up watching the show Mister Rogers Neighborhood or even the newer adaptation of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. Even though there were some parts that I felt dragged on for longer than they should have and at some points it felt confusing, ultimately this documentary does a great job of telling the story of Fred Rogers, the idea behind creating his show, and the impact he had on many …show more content…

Mister Rogers Neighborhood was the place that made these children feel safe and was their escape from reality. The producers express throughout the entire film that Rogers’ central idea in creating his TV show was to provide a getaway for children from the negative world we live in. They did an excellent job of choosing the people they would interview for this documentary, including parts of Rodger's family, his close friends, and his coworkers, to show the viewers how big of an impact he had on all of their lives. I am impressed by the filmmakers use of the clips and other footage they put together to tell the story. One specific clip from the movie stood out to me and showed how big of an impact Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood has had on the children who watched it. They never state the girl's name but when she meets Rogers she starts tearing up and says, “I watched your show as a youngster. I wasn’t allowed to go to preschool, because I had a disability, and my mom made me watch your show every day. So, thank you. for your preschool education. And thank you for inspiring me today,” (Won’t You be My Neighbor
