When you think of the greatest NBA players ever, who do you think of? Most likely you thought of players such as Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, or Charles Barkley. But, one name surpasses all others when it comes to NBA greats, that name is Michael Jordan. That recognition doesn’t come with just being a good player, you have to be able to prove it and Michael Jordan’s six NBA championships and his 5 MVP’s for certain just helps his case of being the best player of all time all that much more.
Michael Jeffery Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 17, 1963. Michael’s parents James and Delores Jordan didn’t want to raise their kids in Brooklyn, so they decided to move to North Carolina. They ended up living in a town called Wilmington, where Michael’s mother worked at a bank and his father served as a supervisor at General Electrician. When Michael’s parents worked his 3 older siblings would watch him and his younger sister. (CNN Library 1) As a young boy, Michael loved sports and he played as many as he could like soccer, football, golf, and baseball. But, even from a young age, Michael knew what his true favorite sport to play was basketball. (McCormick 2,3)
Michael excelled at sports all throughout middle school. He made it to high school and played basketball his freshman year, when tryouts for varsity came around for Michael’s sophomore year he had confidence that he could make the team. He ended up not making the team but, he says that it was a good thing because it just gave all the more motivation to be the best basketball player he could be.(NBA.com 1)
That next junior year Michael made the varsity team and became the star player right away by putting up some outstanding numbers. But, in his...

...ring that summer Olympics, Michael was limited to the amount of time he played because of the blowouts of teams they played. Once again Michael Jordan wins but, this time it was for his country not just his team. (McCormick 39)
Today, Jordan likes to spend time with his wife and three children Jeffrey Michael, Marcus James, and Jasmine Mickael. He also likes to stay fit and healthy by playing golf and exercising daily. Plus he is the out spoken owner of the Charlotte Bobcats and also the largest endorser for Nike. (McCallum 1) Even to this day young kids know who he is because of the basketball legacy he left behind. His logo is on every other kid’s clothes, its everywhere. But, you don’t just get that recognition automatically, you have to be able to show why you deserve it and Michael’s career and life as a whole deserve that recognition no doubt. (McCormick 41)
