Michael Jackson was born in the United States and is an iconic figure in the music realm. He was known as the "King of Pop". Jackson wrote many songs about politics, love, hate, and the living in a white dominated society. Michael Jackson decided that he was tired of being hated on for his appearance, since he was of African American heritage. He decided to bleach his skin to make him white. He believed that this would make him fit in. Even though he changed his appearance, he still felt the hatred that other African Americans went through. He still sang about many different controversial issues in society including the song "They Don't Really Care About Us". The hook states, "All I wanna say is that, They don't really care about us, All I wanna say is that, They don't really care about us" (Jackson 1995). This example is referring to society and political figures. The word "they" refers to politicians or public figures of the white decent.
