The brain is one of the most interesting and complex organs of the body that helps and gives us every thought, feeling, and action. This amazing organ is roughly three pounds (Brain, 2015). The brain is made up of multiple parts that work together to create the most intricate structure that controls all bodily functions. There are three different parts that make up the brain, the cerebellum, cerebrum and brainstem. What connects the brain to the rest of the body is the brain stem; this travels down into the spinal cord that branches out to the rest of the limbs and portions of the body. The cerebellum, appearing like a small wrinkled ball of tissue in the posterior of the brain, is linked to balance of the human body. Lastly, the cerebrum that is split into two hemispheres is the largest part that controls memory, thoughts, and actions (Brain, 2015). The cerebrum is divided into lobes; frontal, parietal, temporal, and occipital. The brain is made up of neurons. A neuron is composed of dendrites, cell body, axon and axon terminals. Physical exercise can also help someone lose weight, lower blood pressure, and may even assist in physical appearance (Physical, 2015). Recent studies suggest that physical exercise can even increase your happiness (Rimer, 2011). Exercise can release growth factors, improve mood and sleep and can reduce stress and anxiety. By reducing stress anxiety, memory can be improved because stress and anxiety are factors that can impair your memory or cognitive skills (Godman, 2014).
