Lord of the Flies compared to The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
In today’s society, everyone must learn to take care of something or someone, and that is a responsibility that they must uphold. In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and Lord of the Flies, the responsibility of the boys is to manage by themselves without any parental guidance or any source of established authority. The events in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn can be easily compared to those of Lord of the Flies mostly because both of the main characters have major roles and duties. The two duties the main characters came in contact with are taking care of others, and themselves, and have the responsibility to do the right thing, which implies that the responsibility helps people mature.
Taking care of oneself, as well as, others is an enormous duty to handle on one's own. In both books, neither of the main characters do not know whom they can trust and not trust, so they are forced to take care of themselves. The characters, in Lord of the Flies have to live on their own, and are in charge of their own lives; they are on an island for no one to run to but themselves, or some of the others they can trust. However, the ones they trust are already on their own, looking after themselves. The characters go through adaptations as they adjust to their new surroundings, and change because of this. For example, Jack appears to be a strong-willed character in the beginning, nobody would have ever imagined he become a bloodthirsty killer. This serves as an example that they have to fend for themselves on this island; they cannot depend on Jack or any one else as a means of survival. ...than they have ever before. In the Lord of the Flies, the characters had lots of responsibilities, and it was not easy for them to achieve them because they were so young. All of the duties they took on helped them mature. The person responsible for setting up the groups for the various tasks was Ralph, he was also responsible for taking care of himself till the very end o, since everyone left him. Huck is responsible for both himself and Jim, the runaway black male, in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. He also has many problems in which he must choose right from wrong throughout the book, and his decisions trace back to his instincts. Responsibility is a very crucial factor in society today, the world would be corrupt if there weren't any responsibility in the world. Thus, morals must be taught at an early age so children can grow up to be mature and responsible.
