Some people think that keeping whales in captivity is a good idea, though they only like them for the amusement. I strongly believe that whales should not be kept in captivity. This is because when whales are kept in captivity their emotional health and physical health are negatively affected, On the other hand, some people foresee that keeping whales in captivity is a good idea, but I disagree. Many people ask, what does it mean for a whale to be kept in captivity? Being kept in captivity means to be kept or to live under human care as opposed to living freely in their natural environment. When whales are pulled out of the wild to be kept in captivity they are being negatively affected in multiple places. Yes, there some positive sides to why whales are kept in captivity like, amusement and fun though that it very misguided because if you think about that again, is keeping whales in captivity really for the whales or is it for us? Dr Naomi Rose, who is a mammal scientist for the Animal Welfare Institute at Washington, DC remarks, "I think that orcas are more social than people are. I think their family lives are more important to them than they are for us," this tells us that whales are more reasonable in the wild then in captivity. So why are they still kept in captivity, because even though they are for the fun and amusement in captivity they can be used for amusement in many different other ways besides captivity. They are also known to travel around the families for life. Many researchers have found out many things, but, Dr. Hope Ferdowsian, an expert on animals in the wild has found that there everyday routine had changed directly from the wild to captivity. We can see this from a different perspective, think of it as living in a huge pool, then transferring to the bathtub or maybe even the sink. To think that whales should have to live in an enclosure is just sick. Especially when it is only 100 by 250 feet and 30 feet deep compared to 500 times bigger oceans they get to live in.
