Did you know that having a test tube baby causes a higher risk of cancer for that child? Because IVF causes sicknesses and is not covered by insurance, IVF should not be supported. Test tube babies have a higher risk of having birth defects, and cause a higher risk of their body to be malformed . It is also expensive. There is a long history and a lot of changes in the process since the first test tube baby. The first time scientists did research for this topic was in 1827, and they discovered that the female body contains eggs, and an ova (American Express). Then in 1843, scientists found that the sperm fits into a woman's ova (American Express). Also, in 1944, the first egg was fertilized (American Express). The process begins with hormone therapy and then freezing the eggs, because this assures that the women will become pregnant (London's Women Clinic). The next steps involves the single embryo transfer, then taking the frozen remands and transferring them into the women (London's Women Clinic). There are many check ups between the nine months as mentioned before .These checkups are required so the doctors and check on the baby and it’s progress. Another reason is that there are many illnesses and risks for an IVF baby. One is having many births at a time (IVF Side Effects and Risks). Yes, it is not rare to have twins, triplets, etc., but IVF puts having more than one birth more possible. Some couples only intend to have one child, and don’t want more, so they have to put that into consideration.
