Diving has been around for centuries; in fact in ancient times people use to hold their breath to search for food sources and even decorative items. Most people today relate diving to SCUBA (Self Contained Underwater Breathing) diving, but mostly as a recreational sport. Through technological advances the SCUBA world divers are able to explore the fascinating underwater world at greater depths and longer time intervals. These advances include the air lung, dive computers, and diving suits. With out these advances divers would not be able to explore great depths underwater safely. Issitt states, “Scuba diving requires certification through a licensed instructor or organization. Divers must learn to handle equipment to monitor oxygen levels, control depth and navigate underwater.” (Scuba Diving). Most diving instructors or organization have been certified through PADI (Professional Association of Divining Instructors), one of the most recognized organizations throughout the world as well as some of the following organizations: NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors), SSI (Scuba Schools International), NASE (National Academy of Scuba Divers), plus many more. Through these agencies one can safely be certified for Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver and lastly Master Diver. Each certification declares how safely one can dive to what depth, amount of time underwater, and what skills are appropriate for the dive being considered. “Open water diving is the most common type of scuba diving, and is the type covered by basic scuba diving certification. Open water diving is the type practiced most by enthusiasts of underwater nature photography and reef diving.” (Issitt, "Scuba Diving.") Not one dive is like another and every diver’s experience is different. No matter when a diver is certified, either in there twenties or in there sixties, a diver will never have the same experience diving. The vast underwater eco-system change daily. Scuba diving can be a safe recreational sport or profession with the correct certification. Works Cited Issitt, Micah L. "Scuba Diving." Hobby Profile: Scuba Diving (2007): 1. Romer no longer is a offshore diver. He is a offshore manager of a 300 foot construction boat. He can no longer dive because he has neck problems because of the face mask and equipment. Also he can’t dive anymore because he spent so much time on the shore telling other divers’ how to work and complete task safely that he got out of shape and couldn’t dive anymore unless he got back in shape. In his offshore diving career he went to about 360 feet below sea level and he always strived to go deeper. The worst part about being an offshore diver was being away from home and family for so long. Mr. Haul Romer told us he was so glad with the decisions he made out of highschool even though he had no idea what he wanted to be. Mr. Romer loved his job as an offshore diver and wouldn’t change a thing about it other than the time away from home. Although, he loved his job as an offshore diver Mr.Haul Romer loves his job now and is happy with the experiences he experienced as a diver. Haul was an amazing and very interesting guest
Surfing is not a sport, and no true surfer would ever claim otherwise. Yes, it requires all the essential elements of a sport; strength, discipline, balance and most of all practice but unlike a sport, surfing isn’t a competition. True, even most surfers refer to it as an “extreme sport”, but the truth is, we do so because it’s impossible to create a word that completely describes surfing. It is an experience in its own class, a spiritual conquest quest, searching for the perfect wave.
...c training is more like a lifestyle, they have to love what they do. Many people all over the world have used an athletic trainer for their pain. Without people like this in the world, it would be hard for people to live a long and healthy life. Thanks to athletic trainers, we can now treat and diagnose problems before they get too serious.
To achieve a degree in Athletic Training, there are many tasks and skills to be learned. The Education Council under the National Athletic Training Association put together an education program filled with a set of guidelines of what has to be taught to graduate with a degree in Athletic Training. Before you can learn and understand Athletic Training, you must know the Anatomy and Physiology of the human body. This includes bones, muscles, levels of organization, tissue levels, systems of the body, skeletal structure, articulations, integrative functions, sensory function, blood, and embryology (Martini, 2001). Besides Anatomy and Physiology, the methods of taping is also extremely critical to this career. Before you can understand what each taping techniques are used for, you must also know about sports injuries. Athletic Training is all about the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and evaluation of athletic injuries. Another skill that must be learned in the Athletic Training Education Program is how to provide immediate emergency care. That includes everything from background information to actually being able to save an athlete’s or any one else’s life. You must be aware of legal considerations, how and when to approach a victim, the human body systems, examining the victim, basic life support, bleeding and shock, identifying wounds, sudden illnesses, injuries, and how to care for them; also you must be aware of cold and heat related injuries, and how to rescue and move victims (Thygerson, 2001). Other information to be learned includes nutrition, health, and professional development. There are several other topics of Athletic Training; however, there are just to many to s...

said, “Every time you dive, you hope you'll see something new - some new species. Sometimes the ocean gives you a gift, sometimes it doesn't.” As you are swimming under the ocean, imagine the sparkle of the water as you look up the surface from a hundred feet below; floating along with the current, slowly and deeply breathing while observing the sea life. Continue to imagine the ability to remain underwater for an hour or more, just swimming and observing the ocean. This is the life of a scuba diver. Many people think of Scuba Diving as a swim in the water, but in reality it is a very dangerous, and potentially fatal sport and activity. There are many types of Scuba
Diving is the sport of jumping or falling into water from a platform or springboard, usually while performing acrobatics. It is said that there are two categories of divers they 're those who perform with magnificent skill, grace, beauty, and courage then there is Greg Louganis. He was born in San Diego, California in 1960 was adopted by Peter and Frances Louganis as a young boy Greg faced a lot of obstacles. He had a very difficult relationship with his father who was abusive towards him in a physical way. Greg was also suffering in the eyes of his peers who would make fun of him because of his dyslexia. Soon he began to head into the direction of sports he figured out that he excelled amazingly in any sport he took dance and gymnastics classes
The story of a sea rescue is portrayed as “heroic” and “an outstanding contribution to search and rescue” (Margaret, Linley). While off duty, a local officer assisted a boy back to shore after having been caught in a rip tide. His actions were valiant, as were the boy’s father, who died while trying to save his son.
After getting licensed for scuba diving, I became more aware of the scale of plastic and
Scuba diving is a sport that has been done for centuries. Scuba stands for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus, in which people dive underwater with a cylinder of gas to breathe with the assistance of masks, fins, a breathing regulator, a buoyancy device, and gauges to explore the underwater environment. In the early nineteenth century new improvements were invented to help divers stay submerged underwater longer and have a smoother dive. But there is still doubt whether it is still safe to scuba dive or not because of the dangers that come with diving. And there are some areas of the world in which divers should be aware of. Even though improvements in technology made scuba diving safer by allowing humans to stay submerged longer periods of time, scuba diving should not be done, especially in particular regions of the world. A majority of dangers that come with scuba diving are caused by extreme water pressures.
Overall, there are very few fatal attacks on scuba divers. I have not been able to find any over the last twenty years except for one in 1991 and two in 1993. Ironically these were both in the same month. They were all by Great White sharks.
First, when I was there, I scuba dove. The first time I ever went out to Hawaii, I went to my uncle’s dive shop to go scuba diving. Previously, over the summer I had to take an online class so I could get certified. The class was split into six sections that took approximately a month to complete. When I was at his shop, there were so many things to observe that ranged from goggles all the way to boats. As I walked through the shop, I was astonished at all of the components and gadgets that were a necessity for diving. It truly ended up being an expensive hobby. Later, when we were reviewing all of the

To have a good career you would have to have gone to college somewhat and know what you’re talking about. Ashley Simmons says “Classes in college are really just core classes like English, history, biology, etc. Although for aquatic biology you need to take biology because without it, it would be pointless. Some classes are essential like math, science, engineering, and physics” (Simmons). The requirements in studying to be an aquatic biologist are very simple. There are not too many, but obviously you do need some requirements because you need experience and you have to have standards. Diving is one of these requirements. “In studying to be an aquatic biologist you have to actually get in the water so lots of dives are required. Most are freshwater, but some may be saltwater just for overall experience.” (Simmons)...
