Invasive Species Invasive species are species non-native to the ecosystem and its introduction causes or is likely to cause economic harm, environmental harm, or harm to human health. Most invasive species can be animals, plants, or other organisms. Invasive species are more likely to be introduced to a new ecosystem by humans. There are three specific invasive species that are causing huge harm in the United States: Asian carp, quagga and zebra mussels, and earthworms.
