I learned a lot more than I expected to in UNI and it was not all school related, I learned a lot of important life lessons while having a good time in class. I did not love reading from the book but I found that most of the time the readings were very useful. I enjoyed the readings that were not in the book, they usually had a really good message to take away. Overall, the ones that had the most impact on me were ‘There’s More to Life Than Being Happy,’ ‘It’s Not Just the Money,’ Reflection and Learning from Experiences,’ Inside the Mindsets,’ and ‘Letters to a Freshman.’ In ‘There’s More to Life Than Being Happy,’ I learned that many different things contribute to one’s happiness. You have a lot of control over your happiness because you have complete control over your attitude and that affects how you view everything. Knowing your purpose in life does not mean you are going to be happy and researchers usually advice against searching for purpose. There are different types of happiness, happiness with meaning and without meaning. Happiness without meaning shows a shallow, selfish life. While money does not buy happiness it can usually help, people with money have more options than those without and …show more content…

There is a growth mindset and a fixed mindset, growth mindset is the most beneficial to daily life. Some differences in the fixed and growth mindsets are what they want in partners. For example, the growth mindset wants a partner that will challenge them and help them grow, while a fixed mindset wants someone to make them feel perfect. Also, fixed mindset feels smart when they are flawless and view effort as failure while a growth mindset feels smart when they work hard and knows that effort makes you smarter.
