The federal government shutdown that happened for two weeks in October of 2013 had a big impact on the economy. Congress failed to pass legislation that that funds government spending in which the impact affected businesses, jobs, and billions of dollars that were lost during the event. Many people dealt with the hardship of the shutdown due to the fact that the money that was stalled provided their necessities of life.
The federal employees were furloughed which left hundreds of thousands of people on a leave of absence without pay. That is a big factor because without pay people without a check couldn’t feed themselves or their family let allow afford to pay their bills. It could of pose a major problem for some because not all bill collectors or even landlords will be sympathetic or understanding when it can to making sure they get their payments on time. Millions of people were impacted by the shutdown that relied on programs and services such as IRS and the national transportation safety board. IRS’s processing of returns and refunds were delayed since workers were unable to work and couldn’t allow the tax processing system to be programmed and tested in the proper time for it to take for it to be done. The postponement of the refunds that people counted on was difficult to handle since the money was depended on by most of them. National transportation safety board wasn’t able to investigate airplane accidents which are a major problem as far being able to prevent those accidents from happening again to other planes. Furthermore, the FDA was cancelled from doing what they needed to do to inspect and make sure that nothing hazardous can affect the lives of people wellbeing.

The government shutdown was a major part and will be an important factor in our history in the future. I don’t believe that the possibility of this incident will occur again due to the simple fact that the economy has suffered tremendously and affected the many lives of Americans. The devastation had an impact on federal funded program such as Head Start Program that provided education and other services to low-income families. This should be awake up call to the government to take the necessary precautions to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again. While the American people suffered from extreme unemployment and servere hunger, all the government did was initiate "Repatriation" campaigns to send undocumented immigrants, mostly Mexican American, back to their home country. In conclusion, the period from 1875 to 1890 brought many attempts at bettering the working conditions, but many of the working class’s attempts at being recognized went unnoticed. This resulted in violence, frustration, and unnecessary deaths. The series of failed strikes and attempts to receive government intervention resulted in heightened anger among the employees. Without an increase in wages, decrease in working hours, and improvement of working facilities, many workers left their jobs leaving the employer angry and in need of workers. None were available, however, because they were either protesting for better working conditions, signing a contract with a better company, or blocking rail and roadways in order to get their points across to the government.

When the attacks of September 11th occurred, the federal government had to completely close down some airports in the US. This created a negative effect on the industry as it was a shock to their entire organization. Planes in the US and around the world were canceled due to this attack as well. The concept of debt was now in play in America and cause a stress for the next years to come. The introduction of debt was so important to America's history because its was what caused the great depression for Americans. There was no more money in peoples pockets to keep their families on their feet. So in a way the chance that Americans could lose everything they had by overspending, humbled citizens in America now. Its not easy to speak for everyone but it taught people that spending too much when you don't have enough is not the logical thing to do.

The storm many are aware of called Katrina was devastating to property, finances, and families and left many people clinging to life with only hope of assistance. No one seemed well prepared for a storm of this size and many people didn’t evacuate. The government had gotten something right by calling for a mandatory evacuation of New Orleans, Louisiana. FEMA, federal Emergency Management Association, was partially to blame for the slow reaction and help after the storm. Those elected to run our nation and protect the people were also delayed in their efforts to support the people caught in the storm. Overall, elected and appointed officials were slow in their necessary efforts and should have been quicker to help those struggling to survive after one of the most well known hurricanes to ever hit land.
September 11, 2001 was a day that Americans and the world for that matter will not soon forget. When two planes went into the twin towers of the World Trade Center and two others went into the Pentagon and a small town in Pennsylvania, the world was rocked. Everyone in the United States felt very vulnerable and unsafe from attacks that might follow. As a result, confidence in the CIA, FBI, and the airlines were shaken. People were scared to fly after what had happened.

The ordinary people affected by the crisis experienced many forms of mass unemployment. As the workforce began to panic the anxiety grew stronger. The stress of unemployment and anxiousness forced thus individuals to look to the government for the answers. Governments quickly responded to the anxiety by raising taxes. Which in turn only seemed to make matters worse. The United States attempts at restoring the nation with confidence failed. Some believe that the main reason being that the United States had developed an enormous economy of mass production, but the larger picture consisted of analyzing more than the mass production. Instead there was a problem arising. How would the nation survive with a population of mass production and a decrease in consumption became the main question being analyzed. As the stock market crashed and the United States economy began to as well the U.S. government began to focus on the idea of every nation for themselves.
When Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, it caused immediate and significant damage not only to that regions economy but to the countrys as well.

Workers did become "one" and worked well together as "one" but did not succeed as "one". Even throughout lock-outs and strikes, they were suppressed by government power and corporation rule. The power they had hoped to gain as they united wasn’t strong enough to overcome the arbitrary rule and omnipotence of corporations and the government. Miseries of their laborious life continued as hours remained long, wages remained low, conditions remained unsafe, and workers remained disheartened.
When the stock market started failing, many factories closed production of all types of goods. Businesses and banks started closing down and farmers fell into bankruptcy. Many people lose everything, their jobs, their savings, and their homes. More than thirteen million people are unemployed. The Great Depression caused major political changes.
