Immature people both make idiotic decisions, and make decisions based off of emotions without thinking through the consequences. Romeo and Juliet do both those things and more throughout the entirety of Romeo and Juliet. They make impulsive, idiotic decisions and base everything on a love that is based off of looks. Romeo and Juliet are not mature. In fact they are the very opposite of mature. The actions of both Romeo and Juliet are very idiotic throughout the entirety of the play. After an hour of knowing each other, Romeo, who is seventeen, and Juliet, who is thirteen, decide that the best thing for them to do is to get married the next day. An example of this was when Romeo discovered that Juliet had died. Romeo decided that he had to kill himself because a girl he knew for less than a week was dead. “Well, Juliet, I will lie with thee to-night. Let's see for means: O mischief, thou art swift To enter in the thoughts of desperate men ()!” Another example of this was when Romeo decided to try to get one last look at Juliet before he left. He snuck onto Capulet property, which could have easily gotten him killed, and proceeded to watch and listen to Juliet without even thinking about what could happen to him. While the plan may have worked if Romeo had actually gotten the letter from Friar John, Juliet did not take into account what her parents or others might have done after finding out that Juliet died. Her mother could have committed suicide as Romeo’s mother did, and Capulet could have accused the Montagues of poisoning Juliet, which would have started a war. Juliet did not take into account what others would do when they found her dead, she thought about what was best for her to get out of the situation she was in. That is not
