Idi Amin was an man in search of unlimited power, he wanted complete control of Uganda. Idi did whatever it took to accomplish his goals, which he believed he was fulfilling the wishes of God. He believed he was invincible and could do whatever he set his mind to. Eventually his rule of terror was put to an end and he was dethroned. Idi Amin was born around 1925 in Kokoko, to a Kakwa father and a Lugbara mother(Idi1). Shortly after he was born, his parents separated and he received an very basic and quick education(Idi1). He joined the army and became an assistant cook(Keatley2) he was still in search for a way to make his name known throughout the military world. How did Idi advance in the army? How did he allow this to happen? He allowed and welcomed seven terrorists who hijacked a plane with one hundred and two hostages, to land in Uganda so that they could refuel(Kaufman4). On July 4th, Israeli commandos killed the hijackers and rescued the hostages in a surprise raid(Kaufman4). Idi was now in a situation where he had other governments against him, and he started to realize he was outmatched. In 1978 in a desperate attack to remain in power, he sent troops to Tanzania in an effort to annex the Kagera salient, and by early 1979, fled under the powerful assault of Tanzanian forces, Idi fled to Libya, but eventually ended up in Saudi Arabia(Kaufman4) where he remained until january 1989, when he slipped out on a false passport and eventually made his way to Zaire, and declared he would return to Uganda to become their leader once again(Kaufman4). Ugandan would only allow him to return if he faced charges from them, and eventually Saudi Arabia allowed him to seek sanctuary there(Kaufman4). In the remaining twenty four years of his life, Idi seemed to enjoy sporting events and going to the gym and driving around his cars(Keatley6) He died on August 16 2003, of multiple organ
