A girl who’s outcry was heard all around the world. A girl fighting for an education for all, no matter what gender, race, or ethnicity. Malala refused to be silenced and always put up a fight no matter whom she is going against. Education was always a priority and a privilege for her. Her feelings later changed and she noticed everyone deserves and is entitled to an education. I am Malala is a memoir of the struggle and war Malala had to fight and is still fighting to give an education to all. Malala Yousafzai’s outcry for education was heard around the world. Malala does not care what people think of her, no matter if she is a boy or girl. Gender inequality has affected Malala all her life,“I was a girl in a land where rifles are fired in celebration of a son, while daughters are hidden away behind a curtain, their role in life simply to prepare food and give birth to children” (Yousafzai 13). Malala explains what being a woman was like in Pakistan and shows the Patriarchal aspect of their society and the importance of women there. Gender is not what is important to Malala, equality is what Malala is fighting for. Malala will do anything to get equality in Pakistan. Malala always has been one to question authority, and never backed down for anything, even if it is for explaining everyone is equal. Malala claims that, “If I am speaking for my rights, for the rights of girls, I am not doing anything wrong”(Yousafzai 141). She has no issue doing what she feels is right, even if it is different.
