Everyday, we humans make choices. Sometimes, we make these choices based off of our own natural instincts, while at other times, we make these choices based off of the way our society has shaped us. Inevitably, these choices determine our fate and make us who we are. Often times, authors implement these choices into their written works. This is heavily shown in the novels The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain, and The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne. In both of these novels, the main characters either make choices that follow the rules of their society, or defy them and create choices based off of their own beliefs and experiences.
