TORNADOES

We all know how a tornado looks like. It is very beautiful and admirable – it usually matches the colour of the ground, making the landscape look both scary and eye-catching at the same time. However, tornadoes are also extremely dangerous. They can easily lift a train, destroy a house within seconds or pick up the whole forest. The effects of a tornado on nature can be seen for a few years after a complete restoration of urban life. They are very interesting phenomenon, but why exactly do they occur?
Most tornadoes start from a thunderstorm. In the simplest words, two air masses need to meet: one cool and dry and the other warm and moist. When they hit each other, they create instability in the atmosphere. An invisible horizontal spinning effect is then created in the lower atmosphere by a change of wind direction and an increase of its speed with increasing height. How do we prepare for this? First of all, we should not panic, set up a plan and follow it. We should make sure every person in the family knows how to behave, where to go and who to contact in case of emergency. What is also very important, we should set up some means of communication and a list of people who may possibly be in danger during an incoming tornado. If this is done and there happens to be an emergency, everyone could be informed as soon as possible and begin evacuation immediately. We should also prepare an emergency kit (which includes food and water for at least 72 hours, some radio or phone, first aid supplies and toiletries), and build a safe room where we could hide. The room should have no windows and be strong enough not to break when hit by flying debris. We could also consider making copies of important documents and store them in a safe
